Saturday saw the qualifying and 1st race for the Carsales TCR Australia to get accustomed to the Island and action was plenty. A few of the cars finding difficulty in the famous turn 1 at the Island, and when it goes wrong at turn 1 it usually doesnt end well as turn 1 takes no prisoners. When approached right its a great corner and rewards the  brave, get it wrong and its another story that usually doesnt end well. It was the Little Alfa Romeo Giulietta of Dylan O’Keefe to lay claim to the 1st ever pole for the series. With a time of 1:35.98, ahead of the Hyundai i30N of Will Brown.  Jason Bright in a VW Golf took 3rd and Tony D’Alberto secured 4th for qualifying.  It didnt take long for the biffo to start as contact between Jason Brights VW Golf and Andre Heimgartner’s WRX brought out the Safety on not even the 1st lap!

With Racing underway again it was the Alfa of O’Keefe who managed to drive off into the distance for the win leaving Will Brown in his Hyundai 2nd and 3rd for James Moffatt in his Renault! With 2 races on the Sunday, Race 1 was again dominated by the  Alfa Romeo Giulietta of Dylan O’Keefe. As he blasted off and left everyone for dead in his wake. Taking the win by 6 seconds. Ahead of Will Brown in the Hyundai i30N. Hamish Ribaritis was third in the Audi RS. After a lap 1 incident saw Andre Heimgartner and Garth Tander avoiding a spinning Renault of James Moffatt. The 2 Honda Civic Type R’s were also out of contention as both had Right front punctures and had to pit.

After a 20 minute break it was back into the action, And it seemed to be a bashfest with the big names falling by the wayside. But It was great news for Hyundai, with a 1-2 Lead by Will Brown and team mate Nathan Morcom claiming 2nd, 3rd was the VW Golf of Aaron Cameron! Great intro to the Island for this series!
