The first event of its name: The Japanese car show: Sakura Picnic drew a massive crowd at Bundoora Park in Victoria for 2016.

The community minded show brought many JDM enthusiasts out to enjoy the display – showing appreciation for all vehicles.

There was a great collection of original, modified & customs vehicles. As a celebration of Japans motoring heritage – the show also featured some motorbikes and 4×4’s.

Of course, there were your token cars as expected – Nissan GTR’s, Mitsubishi Evolutions, & WRX STI’s etc.  But outside of the norm there were plenty of niche JDM cars that arguably drew more interest than the usual classics – the variation was great to see.

Food trucks kept the crowd engaged with plenty of choice – perhaps too much! I overheard a group say they waited 30 minutes for a toasted sandwich: A sign that next years event will be bigger and better!

Sakura Picnic was a fine example of what enthusiasts like to see – bring on 2017.
