As a kid I would always look forward to the Motor Show here in Sydney, where you could run around checking out all the manufacturer’s booths, though in reality as a kid you would always try score the posters. I remember having my wall covered in posters, and apart from from motorsport posters, it was of the cool japanese cars at the time like Subaru, Mitsubishi & Nissan. I recall I had the Godzilla R32 GT-R poster on my wall, around the time that it was so dominate in the touring car years of the early 90’s, and always wishing you could own one in the future. Now that was quite a long time ago and nowadays what’s better then looking at a single Skyline, is being around hundreds of them and seeing some driven how they were meant to be, which of course is FAST! The chase for records was on, with record times within reach as workshops went head to head to see who would come out on top.Now in its 3rd year the 2018 Nitto Performance Engineering GT-R Festival was held at Sydney Dragway, this year the weather was on point which helped greatly in bringing all these fine samples out to show & play. Run by Andrew Hawkins & crew from Motive DVD, he has continually raised the bar with the event, in showcasing the Skyline brand from the early 70’s GTRs to the current spec R35. With its popularity growing, a 2-Day event could be on the cards for the 2019 GT-R Festival, Which I hope could also move over next door for one of the two days for some track driving at Sydney Motorsport Park.It didn’t matter what you were into there was something for everyone, from massive Show & Shine displays, Motorkhana, Merchandise, along with vendors showing off the GT-R goods, and going head to head down the strip. Check out the gallery of the days action!
